Girard-William M. Hazelwood, 97, of Girard, IL passed away at 12:56 A.M. Thursday February 21, 2013 at his residence.
Bill was born April 12, 1915 in Sonora, KY a son of Lewis C. and Sarah A. (Scifers) Hazelwood. He was a WW II veteran a member of the Nilwood Baptist Church, a member of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau and farmed in the Girard, IL area for over 70 years. Bill married Edith Etta Grigg Aug. 18, 1946 in Virden, IL.
Surviving Bill is his wife Edith Etta Hazelwood of Girard, IL, daughters, Joyce Colclasure of Bloomington, IL, Nancy Shade of Litchfield, IL, Sharon (Dewey) Thoms of Denham Springs, LA and Bonnie Hazelwood of Elgin, IL, a son, Paul W. (April) Hazelwood of Wichita, KS, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death were his parents, 8 siblings and a son-in-law John Shade.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday Feb. 25, 2013 to 1:00 p.m. at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Girard, IL with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Jim Shade officiating. Organist, Mike Barnard and soloist, Amanda Hazelwood Castleman. Pallbearers: Tim Shade, William Hazelwood, Douglas Hazelwood, Christopher Muth, David Morgan & Michael Shade.
